Preludes is Soulframe's free, open pre-alpha testing phase on Windows PC (since Open Preludes, November 6, 2026), featuring numbered content updates before the official Early Access launch.
Preludesis Digital Extremes' free, open pre-alpha testing phase for Soulframe (since Open Preludes, November 6, 2026) before Steam Early Access. Players explore expanding slices of Midrath while the team ships numbered updates—new weapons, bosses, pacts, and systems—on a regular cadence. The goal is to validate combat feel, performance, onboarding, and live-ops tooling with real players without calling the game "launched" yet.
Numbered Preludes drops from launch through June 2026 (approximate months aligned with public devstreams).

Since Open Preludes there is no invite lottery, no key, and no Founders Pack purchase required. Progress is intended to carry forward, but Digital Extremes warns that pre-alpha changes may still require adjustments and would announce any reset in advance.
Preludes is a public testing and early experience phase with a faster patch rhythm, and explicit work-in-progress expectations. Early Access has not been dated—it will likely mean a wider Steam storefront presence, clearer purchase or access rules, and a marketing push when DE is ready. Progress from Preludes may carry forward, but features and balance will still change until EA stabilizes.
