① 64-bit Windows (the official minimum lists Windows 7; Windows 10/11 is the practical choice). ② A CPU with SSE 4.2 support and at least 8 GB RAM. ③ A DirectX 11+ GPU, 50 GB of free space, and broadband. Meeting all three clears the official minimum; Preludes is pre-alpha, so frame rates still depend on ongoing optimization.

Install on an SSD and close background capture tools to reduce stutter in dense areas. Update GPU drivers before each Preludes patch, cap frame rate if you see thermal throttling, and lower shadow or foliage settings first—Soulframe's outdoor zones are the usual bottleneck. Because official minimums are unconfirmed, treat these as starting points and adjust after your first hour in-game.
Digital Extremes lists Windows 7 64-bit, Intel Core i7-860 / i5-750 or AMD FX-4100 (SSE 4.2), 8 GB RAM, a DirectX 11+ GPU, 50 GB of free storage, and a broadband connection as the minimum on support.soulframe.com and the Steam store page (App ID 4095380), updated September 2026.
No. Only minimum specs are official. The 16 GB RAM / GTX 1060 figures circulating on hardware sites are third-party estimates, not official requirements, and may change during Preludes.
The official minimum is unusually modest (a DirectX 11+ GPU and 8 GB RAM), but Preludes is a pre-alpha build and performance is still being tuned. Install on an SSD and update GPU drivers before judging performance.
No. Open Preludes is Windows PC only, through the launcher on soulframe.com. No macOS, Linux, or console build is available.
