Soulframe Craftwork, Temper Slots & Dismantling
Stock→Legendary · Temper slots · dismantle table
Craftwork is the hidden quality roll on every Soulframe weapon — it decides how many Temper slots a weapon has, how much flat damage it carries, and what materials you get back when you break one down. Here's the six-tier system and the dismantle payout table, sourced from the community-maintained Weapons wiki.
P16 current rule: Tuvalkane now learns Tempers from dismantles after The Steelsinger. Each needs 10 points (single 1, doubled 2). To Strike, use a Level 30 compatible weapon and Tuvalkane Rank 3; Legendary is not required. Each change costs 1 Glow + 1 Amber + 1 Faer Lampyrite, cannot fail, and is permanent unless you pay to Strike a learned effect back. Type, Origin and Craftwork slot limits still apply. See Temper Striking.

Quick Answer
- What is Craftwork? A hidden 1–6 quality roll on every weapon copy — shown as stars under its inventory tile — that caps how many Tempers it can hold and adds flat bonus damage.
- Six tiers, low to high: Stock → Military → Officer → Noble → Sovereign → Legendary.
- Temper slots by tier: Stock 0–1 · Military 1–3 · Officer 2–4 · Noble 3–5 · Sovereign 4–6 · Legendary 5–8 (Refining to Legendary always guarantees all 8).
- Damage bonus: +4 flat damage per Craftwork rank, up to +20 at Legendary (Dual Blades get half that bonus).
- Dismantle decision: the community table lists Lampyrite from Noble and above, but lower-quality donors can still teach an unlearned Temper. Compare learning progress, the weapon base and resource needs before using bag space.
The six Craftwork tiers
P16 renames Refine to Enhance Craftwork. The quality and resource tables below retain community sourcing; they have not been remeasured in-game for this revision.
Craftwork is rolled randomly the moment a weapon is dropped, purchased, or crafted. Higher-level foes have a better chance of dropping higher-Craftwork weapons, and you can also raise a favored weapon's Craftwork by Refining it with Chordstones at Tuvalkane.
| Craftwork tier | Temper slots | Flat damage bonus |
|---|---|---|
| Stock | 0–1 | +0 |
| Military | 1–3 | +4 |
| Officer | 2–4 | +8 |
| Noble | 3–5 | +12 |
| Sovereign | 4–6 | +16 |
| Legendary | 5–8 | +20 |
- Refining a weapon always grants at least 2 Tempers per step, as long as it doesn't exceed the new tier's cap.
- Refining all the way to Legendary guarantees 8 Tempers — one way to fill the cap; P16 Strike can also fill empty slots. A Legendary weapon that simply drops on the ground may only carry 5.
- Dual Blades receive half the flat damage bonus at every tier — factor that in before spending Chordstones on one.
- Craftwork is shown two ways in your client: as a word in the weapon tooltip, and as 1–6 stars beneath the inventory tile. Don't confuse this with a weapon's separate 1–3 star Tier (shown above the Mastery orb), which is a fixed rarity/acquisition rating, not a rerollable quality.
Dismantling — what each tier and Origin returns
Breaking down a weapon (from a ground drop, the Arsenal, or recently picked-up Inventory before Nightfold; arbitrary older inventory everywhere remains unconfirmed) frees Storage Capacity and returns Crafting/Refining resources. The payout depends on both the weapon's Craftwork tier and its Origin — Dendrit, Feykin, and Cassid weapons share one resource table; Ode'n and Mendicant weapons share a different one.
| Craftwork | Dendrit / Feykin / Cassid origin | Ode'n / Mendicant origin |
|---|---|---|
| Stock | Scrap Brass · Scrap Iron | Scrap Brass · Scrap Iron |
| Military | Hushed Chordstone · Scrap Steel | Hushed Chordstone · Scrap Steel |
| Officer | Gossamer Quartz · Scrap Steel · Whispering Chordstone | Ode Graphite · Scrap Steel · Whispering Chordstone |
| Noble | Glow Lampyrite · Lilting Chordstone · Sappheline · Scrap Steel | Glow Lampyrite · Ichor · Lilting Chordstone · Scrap Steel |
| Sovereign | Amber Lampyrite · Glow Lampyrite · Gossamer Quartz · Melodious Chordstone · Sappheline · Scrap Steel | Amber Lampyrite · Corrupt Onyx · Glow Lampyrite · Ichor · Melodious Chordstone · Scrap Steel |
| Legendary | Amber Lampyrite · Faer Lampyrite · Glow Lampyrite · Moranite · Rhapsodic Chordstone · River Pearl · Scrap Steel | Amber Lampyrite · Faer Lampyrite · Glow Lampyrite · Petrified Ichor · Rhapsodic Chordstone · Scrap Steel · Silistyt |
Reading the table: this community resource table is separate from learning value. Noble+ donors can supply Lampyrites, but a low-Craftwork donor may teach an unlearned target Temper. Check the dismantle preview; you do not need to carry every donor home. P16 also makes Rare Chest weapons Military at minimum.
Source and quantity limits: P15 HF8 explicitly added Scrap Brass as a possible Stock-weapon dismantle return, superseding older “never yields brass” advice. The resource names above do not establish guaranteed bundles or quantities. This historical Origin table is not a client-verified P16 payout table; check the dismantle preview for your copy. Source: P15 community patch transcription, not an official direct read or client test. The P16 transcription's Silisyst spelling remains unresolved against the catalog's Silistyt; do not infer a new item or rename from it.
Craftwork vs. Tempers vs. Tier — don't mix these up
Three different weapon stats get confused constantly in the community. This site keeps them strictly separate:
| Term | What it controls | Where you change it |
|---|---|---|
| Tier (1–3 star, above the Mastery orb) | Fixed rarity/acquisition category set at design time — never changes on a copy you own | Not changeable |
| Craftwork (Stock → Legendary, 1–6 stars under the inventory tile) | How many Temper slots a copy has, plus flat damage | Roll on drop; raise via Chordstone Refining at Tuvalkane |
| Tempers | The actual bonus effect lines rolled into those slots | Initial random rolls; Enhance Craftwork adds effects; P16 Strike selects learned compatible effects |
Should I dismantle or keep a ground drop?
Inspect specific Tempers → learning progress and doubles → base/type/Origin → Craftwork cap → materials → capacity.
- A Military donor with unlearned doubled Swift Strike gives 2 points after The Steelsinger; do not dismiss it merely for having fewer slots.
- A Sovereign duplicate whose Tempers are already learned is not automatically worth keeping. Compare its base and six-slot cap, upgrade costs and dismantle resources.
- Before Tuvalkane is present, dismantles do not teach retroactively; save a valuable donor if learning is the priority.
Strike requires Tuvalkane Rank 3 and a Level 30 target, not Legendary. Learned effects still require type/Origin compatibility and room. Every Strike costs one each of Glow, Amber and Faer Lampyrite.
FAQ
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| What is Craftwork in Soulframe? | The hidden 1–6 quality tier (Stock → Military → Officer → Noble → Sovereign → Legendary) rolled on every weapon copy. It caps Temper slot count and adds flat damage; it is separate from a weapon's fixed 1–3 star Tier. |
| How many Tempers does a Legendary weapon have? | 5–8 on a natural drop, but exactly 8, guaranteed, if you Enhance Craftwork a weapon up to Legendary at Tuvalkane rather than finding one pre-built. |
| Does Craftwork affect damage? | Yes — a flat +4 damage per rank, up to +20 at Legendary. Dual Blades get half that bonus at every rank. |
| What Craftwork do I need to dismantle for Lampyrite? | Noble or higher. Officer and below only return scrap resources and lower Chordstone tiers — no Lampyrite. |
| Is the Origin × Craftwork dismantle table complete? | It is a historical community table, not a reverified current-patch payout list. HF8 establishes possible Stock Scrap Brass, but exact bundles and quantities still need the current client's dismantle preview. |
| Is the P16 Temper rework live? | Yes. Learn through dismantling after The Steelsinger, then Strike at Tuvalkane Rank 3 onto a compatible Level 30 weapon. |
