Soulframe Oden Tempering Guide — Nightfold Weapon Upgrades

Oden tree · Tempering queue · runes & reforge

Oden Weapons & Tempering

Quick answer — Oden tempering & Nightfold weapon upgrades

  • What is Tempering? Endgame metal weapon upgrades at the Nightfold forge — timed queue jobs on the Temper tab. This is not Joinery reforge (Virtue pips) and not Chordstone Refine (Craftwork / Tempers).
  • Where do I do it? Nightfold forge → Temper tab for metal tempering. Tuvalkane handles Craft / Cast / Refine (Chordstones) — see unlock Tuvalkane if the forge is not set up yet.
  • Tempering vs Chordstone Refine: Refine spends Chordstones to raise Craftwork and roll Tempers on whole-weapon drops. Tempering is the separate metal queue (often Moranite-heavy). Full walkthrough: Chordstone refining.
  • Oden weapons (P15): Kingdom-of-Ode arms like Veilk, Ilverac, and Vrusht-IX drop fully built — preview stats and Tempers before pickup, then upgrade via Refine and/or Temper.
  • What to prepare first: Unlock Tuvalkane → farm Moranite and scrap metals (farming routes) → queue a Temper job before Agari or Crypt runs. Socket runes separately: Runes & enchanting.

Oden Weapons & Tempering

Preludes 15 extends the Oden weapon tree (e.g. Veilk, Ilverac, Vrusht-IX) and adds Chordstone refinement at Tuvalkane alongside legacy Tempering queues.

Chordstone refinement vs Tempering (read this first)

P15 splits endgame crafting into two stations — do not confuse them:

| Station | Where | What it does | |---------|--------|----------------| | Cast / Refine (Chordstones) | TuvalkaneRefine tab | Spend Chordstones on a weapon to uplift Craftwork and roll Tempers on whole-weapon drops or migrated Stock/Noble gear | | Cast (Chordstone ingots) | Tuvalkane — Cast tab | Forge Chordstone tiers; higher tiers need Lampyrites from sieges (incl. Turret Jotar) | | Tempering (metal queue) | Nightfold forgeTemper tab | Legacy metal upgrade loop — timers, Moranite-heavy jobs |

Deep walkthrough: Chordstone refining guide · Noble shop rotation: Zenith Noble weapons · Forge setup: Unlock Tuvalkane.

Hotfix 5 and later patches may rename tabs or costs — confirm Cast vs Refine vs Temper labels in your client.

What is the Oden tree?

Oden gear is themed around the Kingdom of Ode: hollow alloys, sigil shields, and weapons that pair with the Ode Tempest pact line. You will see Oden items unlock as you progress Duelo and late Fables (see Main quest).

Unlike starter Dendrit weapons, Oden pieces often demand higher Virtue gates and rare metals — plan Moranite and scrap iron routes before you commit.

Tempering (forge queue)

Tempering remains the endgame metal loop in Preludes 15. Pair it with Chordstone Refine for weapon quality — they use different materials:

  • Performed at the Nightfold forge Temper tab (not Tuvalkane's Chordstone UI)
  • Jobs run on a timer — start a temper, then farm Crypts or Agari while it completes
  • Stacks with existing Enchanting / Reforging (Joinery) on the same weapon — Joinery shifts Virtue pips, not metal temper stats

Workflow tip: queue Tempering before a Crypt of the Circade run or an Agari circuit so you never sit idle at the forge.

Avakot's dedicated /Tempering wiki page was missing at crawl time; treat in-game tooltips as source of truth for metal costs per tier.

Runes, enchanting, and reforging

Community wikis group these under Craftwork:

| System | Purpose | |--------|---------| | Runes | Socket-style bonuses on eligible gear (Arsenal central slot) | | Enchanting | In P15 = Runes + Totems at Nightfold Arsenal — not Joinery or Chordstone Refine | | Reforging (Joinery) | Shift Virtue attunement pips on a weapon (Tuvalkane Reforge tab) |

Reforging interacts directly with Combat mechanics — a Grace bow with extra pips behaves differently from a Courage-shifted reforge. Do not reforge your only weapon right before a boss gate.

Totems/talismans and Smite interact with runes in P15 — see Runes & enchanting and Totems P15.

Material priorities

| Material | Why it matters for Oden | |----------|-------------------------| | Moranite | Late sockets and high-tier upgrades | | Gossamer Quartz | Still needed for pact items and mid weapons | | Scrap iron | Bulk crafting fuel | | Lampyrite | Chordstone Cast tiers — siege/Cogah routes |

Full routes: Material farming and Elite hunting for Moranite from Agari.

Build pairing

If you are still on Garren Rood or starter weapons, finish Torment Stag and mid-game farms before respeccing entirely into Oden.

Preludes 15 (live)

Loot rework is live: most 1–2★ weapons drop fully built with Tempers; refine with Chordstones. Pair tempering with farming routes and Preludes 15 notes. Confirm forge recipes on your client before spending stockpiles.

Verify after each patch

  1. Open Nightfold forge — confirm Tempering tab and queue timer
  2. Open Tuvalkane — confirm Cast and Refine tabs and Chordstone costs
  3. Check Duelo quest flags if Oden recipes are gated behind story
  4. Compare metal costs against your stockpile before multi-step tempers
  5. Update this page's lastVerified in catalog.json when you confirm a change
