Soulframe Temper Striking: Learn, Replace & Double-Stack
- Finish The Steelsinger, reach Tuvalkane Rank 3, and use a Level 30 weapon with a learned, applicable Temper.
- Learn a Temper with 10 points: dismantling contributes one per copy, including two for a doubled Temper. Pre-unlock dismantles are not retroactive.
- Each Strike costs 1 Glow + 1 Amber + 1 Faer Lampyrite. Fill an empty slot or replace a Temper within Craftwork, weapon-type, and Origin limits.
10 learning points · Level 30 · Tuvalkane Rank 3
Temper Striking in Preludes 16
To replace one Temper, visit Tuvalkane → Strike, select a Level 30 weapon and a slot, then choose a learned, compatible Temper. Finish The Steelsinger, raise Tuvalkane to Rank 3, and learn the Temper first. Legendary Craftwork is not required.
Each Strike costs 1 Glow + 1 Amber + 1 Faer Lampyrite and cannot fail. The replacement is permanent: putting an old Temper back requires learning it and paying for another Strike.
Evidence: the Preludes 16 patch transcription, “Study, Strike & Temper,” reviewed on 2026-10-08. This guide describes the published rules, not an in-game test. Missing percentages and unconfirmed dismantling combinations remain unknown.
Learn before you Strike
Dismantling a weapon advances each Temper it contains. Every Temper needs 10 points: a single instance contributes 1, and a double-stacked instance contributes 2. Ground and Inventory dismantles both count. Check learned Tempers and progress at Tuvalkane’s station.
Finish The Steelsinger before dismantling for learning. Tuvalkane must be present; earlier dismantles are not retroactively learned. The Level 30 requirement applies to the weapon receiving the Strike; the patch does not require every dismantled donor to be Level 30.
For example, if Swift Strike is at 8/10, dismantling a donor with doubled Swift Strike supplies the remaining 2 points. A single Swift Strike would take it to 9/10. These are arithmetic examples, not drop-rate or farming guarantees.
Before dismantling, decide whether the donor itself is a useful weapon. Learning consumes that copy; it does not move its existing Temper directly onto another weapon.
Check compatibility and room
A learned Temper must match both weapon type and Origin. Quick Draw is for Bows and cannot be Struck onto a Long Blade. An Ode’n-only Temper cannot be put on a weapon of another Origin. Universal Origin does not remove a Temper’s Bow, Melee or Magick restriction.
| Craftwork | Temper range / maximum |
|---|---|
| Stock | 0–1 / 1 |
| Military | 1–3 / 3 |
| Officer | 2–4 / 4 |
| Noble | 3–5 / 5 |
| Sovereign | 4–6 / 6 |
| Legendary | 5–8 / 8 |
Compatible Tempers work at full strength on any Craftwork, within its slot limit. Raising Craftwork creates more room; reaching Legendary is a slot investment, not a customization unlock.
Replace, fill, or double — step by step
- Open Tuvalkane → Strike and select the weapon you intend to keep. Confirm Level 30, Rank 3 and the completed Fable.
- Select the slot in the upper-right UI. Choose an unwanted Temper to replace, or an empty slot within the weapon’s Craftwork limit.
- Read the applicable Temper menu. Select one you have learned; check type and Origin if the desired option is missing.
- Review the exact slot being overwritten. Save a note of the old Temper if you may want it back later.
- Confirm the 1 Glow, 1 Amber and 1 Faer Lampyrite cost and press Strike.
- Inspect the resulting Temper list and remaining slots before spending on another change.
To double Swift Strike when one instance is already present, select a different unwanted slot or an empty slot, then Strike Swift Strike there. The patch’s example replaces Encumbered this way. Double-stacking uses two slots; it is not unlimited upgrading of one slot.
A Legendary Falx with six Tempers has room for two additional Strikes. A lower Craftwork weapon can also fill empty slots, but only up to its own maximum. Glow, Amber and Faer Lampyrite each have a 99 stack limit.
Choose what to keep: three examples
- Low Craftwork, unlearned target: a Military donor with doubled Swift Strike is worth 2 learning points after The Steelsinger. Dismantle it if its base is unwanted; its low slot count does not make the Temper irrelevant.
- High Craftwork, already-learned effects: a Sovereign duplicate is not automatically a keeper. Compare its base weapon, type, Origin and six-slot ceiling with your current weapon, then weigh upgrade and Strike costs against its dismantle resources.
- Tuvalkane not present: save a particularly useful donor if learning matters to you. Dismantling it now may provide resources, but that past dismantle will not teach its Tempers later.
These decisions separate the weapon you build from the weapons you consume for learning. You do not need to store every donor until your target reaches Level 30.
Six new P16 Tempers
| Temper | Origin | Type | Published effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grounding Spell | All | Magick | Remain Grounded after a Dodge; doubled allows 2 Dodges |
| Conjuration | All | Magick | Increase Heavy Cast damage at full Grounded stacks |
| Severed Root | All | Bow | Increase Stagger on leg shots |
| Hollowed | Mendicant | All Grips | Reduce damage taken from foes |
| Well Woven | Dendrit | Melee | Delay the start of Regain potential decay |
| Invader | Cassid | Melee | Increase damage against foes below 30% Life |
The patch gives no complete percentage table for these effects. Do not assume an exact bonus, duration or probability beyond the stated Dodge count and Life threshold.
If an option is missing
| Symptom | Check next |
|---|---|
| Cannot begin Striking | The Steelsinger completed, Tuvalkane Rank 3, target weapon Level 30 |
| Desired Temper absent | Learned progress reached 10; matching type and Origin |
| Cannot add another Temper | Craftwork slot cap and slots consumed by doubles |
| Cannot afford a change | All three Lampyrite types; each Strike consumes one of each |
| Want the removed Temper back | It must be learned and compatible; pay another Strike |
Enhance Craftwork is the renamed Refine function for increasing quality. Cast makes Chordstones. Strike selects individual Tempers. Older Chaos Chordstone migration instructions are a separate historical process; they are not the only way to change a Temper now.
For dismantling locations and Client permissions, use inventory management. P16 confirms ground drops, Client pickups, Arsenal and recently picked-up Inventory weapons; arbitrary old inventory at every location is not established.
