History Motes · map labels
Soulframe history motes are glowing moths that reveal a region's name on your map when collected — one per area per in-game day. Hold Spectral Sight to make them glow; your Sparrow circles the spawn. Clear enemies first (Motes vanish in combat). Miss today's? It respawns after the daily reset.
| Question | Answer | |---|---| | What is a History Mote? | A glowing moth that reveals a region's name on your map when collected | | How many per day? | One per area per in-game day — return tomorrow for the next one | | How to find them? | Hold Spectral Sight (night helps); your Sparrow circles near the spawn | | Do they wait during combat? | No — clear nearby enemies before approaching the Mote | | Missed today's Mote? | Wait for the Daily Reset — same clock as Sparrow's Tales | | What do they unlock? | The region's name + a short lore entry |
Each region in Soulframe holds one History Mote — a glowing insect hidden somewhere within its borders. Collecting one permanently labels that region on your map and grants a brief piece of world lore.
One Mote per area per day. After you collect today's Mote, no more will spawn in that area until the daily reset. If you miss one, it returns tomorrow.
They do not wait during combat. Motes disappear if enemies are nearby or if you enter combat near the spawn. Always clear the surrounding camp or patrol before you try to collect one.
Check daily reset timing on the Daily Reset tool. Verify in-client after patches.
Hold Spectral Sight (default: hold the interact key, same as opening chests) to make Motes glow brightly. In dark forests or at night, Motes can be nearly invisible. Make it a habit — toggle Spectral Sight whenever you enter a region whose name is still hidden on your map.
Spectral Sight also reveals chests and weak points, so using it regularly while exploring unnamed regions kills two birds with one stone.
Your Sparrow companion often circles or hovers directly above a Mote's spawn point. If your bird is behaving unusually — hovering in one spot, circling tightly, or chirping persistently — search that exact location with Spectral Sight.
This is especially useful in large, open regions where a Mote could be anywhere.
Once region names appear on your map, planning routes becomes far easier:
