Soulframe World Trees & Fast Travel Guide
World Trees · fog clearing · Wevetseed travel
Quick Answer
- At a World Tree (a dead tree with a spear embedded in it), pull out the spear → clears the surrounding area's fog of war and unlocks Wevetseed fast-travel to that tree.
- History Motes (glowing moths) reveal a region's name on your map (one per area per in-game day) — see the History Motes guide for the full daily route. This page does not repeat that content.
- An Enclave (faction hub) and a World Tree serve different purposes: the former is for faction Standing and shops; the latter is for map unlocking, fast-travel nodes, and P15 social features.
- Mount-based fast travel is not implemented — TennoCon only teased it. Preludes 15 still relies on the World Tree travel network (marked
verified: false).
Search intent: Looking for how the Soulframe map works, what a World Tree does, or how to use Wevetseed fast travel? This guide covers all three in one place — fog clearing, Wevetseed acquisition, and how World Trees differ from Enclaves.
How map fog and names work
Unexplored areas in Soulframe are covered by fog of war. There are two separate layers:
- Area fog — cleared by pulling the spear from a World Tree, which reveals the surrounding terrain and paths.
- Region name — revealed by collecting a History Mote, the glowing moth that labels the region on your map.
These are distinct systems: a World Tree lifts the fog over an area; a History Mote stamps the name. You can see terrain but not a name, or vice versa, until you complete both. See the History Motes guide for the daily one-per-area-per-day rule, Spectral Sight habits, and Sparrow behaviour near Motes.
Make it a habit to hold Spectral Sight whenever you enter an unnamed area — it highlights interactables, Motes, and hidden chests. See Controls & keybinds for the default key, and Beginner tips for the exploration checklist.
World Trees — step by step
- Find a World Tree — a dead tree with a spear embedded in its trunk. They appear naturally as you explore; there is no quest gate before the first one.
- Interact and pull out the spear — the surrounding map fog clears, revealing terrain, paths, and nearby points of interest.
- The tree joins your Wevetseed fast-travel network — once activated, you can travel to this tree from any other activated World Tree.
- World Tree Votive Shrine — some World Trees have a Votive Shrine (offering altar) that can host mini-quests, siege hooks, or world activities. We do not list unverified reward tables — see Siege gameplay or Hark the Collector for siege-specific content.
- Preludes 15: no party finder on the tree — map unlocking and Wevetseed travel are individual progression. There is no matchmaking queue attached to a World Tree itself.
- Preludes 15: social features at World Trees — in Enclave and World Tree instances you can see other Envoys, trade face-to-face, and use Dispatches mail. See Multiplayer & co-op and Trading.
- Hotfix 14 (Jul 29): official notes fixed weapon drop previews disappearing after entering or exiting Enclave instances — if previews vanish after hub transitions, verify you are on Hotfix 14+ (Trading troubleshooting · Preludes 15 patch notes).
Wevetseed fast travel
Wevetseed (also called the Voicing Seed) is the consumable that drives fast travel between activated World Trees.
- What it does: Spending a Wevetseed lets you travel between two already-activated World Trees. It is not a full-map teleport — you can only jump to trees whose spears you have already pulled.
- First bundle: Complete The Waste Bear fable and defeat the Wazzard of Wastes — a guaranteed, one-time story drop. See the Wevetseed item page.
- Repeatable source: After the fable, The Wise Elm in your Nightfold becomes harvestable and regrows every 12 hours. This is the only repeatable source — no merchant sells Wevetseed.
- Stack cap: Community catalog records a stack limit of 100 (verify in-client after patches).
- Revive Shrine vs World Tree: A Revive Shrine is a respawn checkpoint (see Beginner's guide §Revive Shrines). A World Tree is a map-unlock and fast-travel node. They look similar but serve entirely different purposes — do not confuse them.
World Tree vs Enclave
| World Tree | Enclave | |
|---|---|---|
| Primary function | Clear fog · Wevetseed fast-travel · Votive quests/activities | Faction Standing · shops · Sparrow's Tales |
| Social (P15) | See other Envoys · trade · Dispatches | Same |
| Unlock timing | Discovered naturally while exploring | After Torment Stag + An Invitation, choose a faction |
| Mounts | Not involved (mounts not implemented) | Not involved |
Both can serve as social hubs in Preludes 15, but only World Trees unlock map fog and fast-travel nodes. See Multiplayer & co-op for trading mechanics at these locations.
Early-game priority route
A sensible exploration order for new players:
- Complete the tutorial and recruit Tuvalkane — Beginner's guide
- Find and activate your first World Tree — pull the spear to start clearing fog
- Establish a daily History Mote loop — one per area per day, check Daily Reset
- Progress Tuvalkane / main quest — Main quest order
For habit-based exploration tips, see Beginner tips. For material farming by region, see Farming routes.
Mounts and future travel
- Omen Beasts are story-driven companions (see Omen Beast & Graces or Beginner's guide §Omen Beasts). They are not a mount system in early Preludes.
- TennoCon and Devstream coverage may have teased mounts, but no riding-based fast travel is currently in the game. Do not expect to ride a mount between World Trees in Preludes 15.
- This section is marked
verified: false— mount mechanics are unconfirmed and may change.
