Omen Beast & Ancestor Graces (Preludes 15)

Graces from Gods & Ghosts

Graces are optional boons offered by Omen Beasts and Ancestors in the overworld. Preludes 15 refreshed their tables — new effects per creature, building on the boon system from Preludes 14.5. Choosing the right Grace at the right time can define a run, especially in hard-mode boss encounters and siege sequences.

How encounters work

• Find an Omen Beast or Ancestor in Midrath (story Fables or roaming).
• Accept or decline the offered Grace — effects are fight modifiers, not inventory items. You hold only one active Grace at a time.
• Wild encounter VFX were updated in P15 — Omen Beasts now have a distinct shimmer and particle trail, making them easier to spot from a distance.
• Graces persist through zone transitions but reset on death or logout. Plan your boss route around Grace availability.

Story-linked Omen Beasts

• Torment Stag — corrupted Garren Rood; first major Omen Beast boss. Defeating it progresses the main quest and unlocks the faction system.
• The Waste Bear — corrupted Bromius; unlocks Bromius Pact and Neath'uns. The dungeon is gated behind this encounter.
• Orengall — wolf in the Nightfold after The Shewolf Snared. Offers Swiftness-type Graces with cooldown reduction mechanics.

Practical Grace planning

• Siege prep: Find an Omen Beast before queueing for Mirifuir or Kearnhold. A damage Grace can shave minutes off a siege clear.
• Boss route: Torment Stag → pick up a nearby Omen Beast Grace → enter the boss arena. Graces reset on death, so do not die before reaching the boss chamber.
• Co-op synergy: In multiplayer, one player grabbing a healing Grace and the other a damage Grace covers both sustain and clear-speed roles.

Not the same as Virtue Grace

The stat Grace (Virtue) is a character attribute that scales certain Arcanics. These Omen Beast Graces are temporary buffs — they are not related to the Virtue system and do not appear on your stat sheet. Virtue allocation: Virtues explained.

Overworld vs fable Graces

Roaming Omen Beasts are not the same as fable bosses that gate pacts — use elite hunting to plan patrol loops and farming routes when you want a Grace before a siege. Decline a Grace if you are saving inventory space for Life Elixirs; boons do not consume slots but they do commit you to a run plan until death or logout.
